Project Description: A Sustainable Partnership

Our entry in the competition revolved around a transformative collaboration with Saputo Dairy Australia Pty Ltd, one of the leading dairy producers in the country. Their Allansford facility in Victoria required a sustainable solution for treating the wastewater it generated. As the main contractor for this project, SWA Water was entrusted with the task of enhancing solids removal from the effluent, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental regulations, and lightening the load on the local sewerage treatment plant.

The project entailed the design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and delivery of a state-of-the-art Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) plant. This innovative solution incorporated ferric chloride coagulation, followed by flocculation and DAF processes, enabling the plant to effectively treat a flowrate of 300 m3/h (up to 7,200 m3/d) of wastewater.

Project Highlights

  • Design: Our expert team conducted detailed design work at our Sydney office, ensuring the project’s success.

  • Manufacturing: SWA Water manufactured the DAF Unit and associated equipment using top-quality materials.

  • Installation: The DAF plant was installed, tested, and commissioned at Saputo’s Allansford site.

  • Scale: The DAF unit measured 20.75m long x 4.35m wide x 3.85m high, weighing a substantial 18 tonnes.

  • Success: The project exceeded Saputo’s expectations and delivered exceptional wastewater treatment results.

This project marked our second successful collaboration with Saputo, following the construction of a 40 m3/h DAF Treatment plant at their Erskine Park milk processing facility in Sydney.
