Managing Director, SWA Malaysia
For more than 35 years, Khailash has been working across a number of challenging niche markets and industries. He has worked on power plants and petrochemical plants and in the oil and gas industries.
It was in 1999 that he first joined the SWA team.
“For 10 years, from 1999 to 2009, I was a partner to SWA, operating as an agent for the business. In 2009, we set up the branch office in Malaysia and I became the Managing Director.
We have grown rapidly in Malaysia. And the continuation of that growth is looking extremely bright for the future.
This is my passion. I want to contribute to the company and the niche overall, so that we treat the wastewater and clean the environment.
The quality has to be maintained to ensure the cleanliness of the water that runs through the nation and out to sea. The work we do helps keep the nation clean and meet our international obligations. It comes back to the green technology we are trying to promote. It gives me great pride to be a part of it all.”
As Managing Director, Khailash oversees the entire operation of the SWA Malaysia from business development to sales activity, tenders to strategy. But what he enjoys most about his role are the unique challenges and complexities of each and every project.
“There are new challenges, new environments and new clients every day. The complexity of our work involves a lot of thinking and strategising to get the right solution to the problem. That always keeps me on my toes.
We have a multidisciplinary team of engineers because the jobs we work on require design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and pre-commissioning. We have mechanical engineers, piping engineers, quality and safety engineers in order to execute our projects.
We also have a full support team of HR, accounts and finance to ensure we consider every project holistically. The industries we work in have a huge emphasis on safety and quality… and in our team we have the full spectrum to deliver on that.”
Over his career, Khailash has travelled extensively. He has worked in Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Switzerland. When he isn’t travelling for work, he loves to take holidays to different parts of the world so he can explore the earth more and more. When he’s at home you’ll find him enjoying time with friends.
